Mile 14,740
This was one of my most
favorite stops in

The Iron Butt
Association. As if we had not done
enough riding in the last two months, Ralph and I decided to take a 4 ½ hour
ride back to the Big Meadow. We were
just plain gluttons and paid the price for the long ride. It was however, worth it as we saw elk and
moose and beautiful woods and fields of grass and wildflowers.

My sweet, gentle but very
wide horse, Oprah. We fed our horses
trail mix we had brought with us. They
thought it a delightful treat and sniffed for more.

Ralph’s horse, Sunny.

The Big Meadow
We were lucky on our ride
back to the Big Meadow as it was just the wrangler, Ralph and me.

The Big Meadow

There were 3 bull moose,
one cow and her calf here in the Big Meadow.
Though I was just a little nervous being this close to the 3 bulls, they
completely ignored us.

Highway 128 Eastern Utah
off of Interstate 70
This road, just a little scratch
on the map, turned out to be a complete and unexpected surprise filled with red
canyons, the Colorado River and red sandstone monoliths.
